"Chris Hemsworth is like Christopher Reeve in that he can do two things: he can wear a big red cape without a shred of self-consciousness. But he's also funny as hell, and he's so sweet. So with all the fish-out-of-water stuff, he's so funny. So he does almost two jobs in a way."

JustJared.com posted a snippet from Flaunt magazine featuring Chris Hemsworth wearing a wet white shirt in the latest spread. Here’s what the 27-year-old Aussie actor had to share:

On his upcoming action flick Thor: “My hope is that [the movie] is an intelligent blockbuster. The ones that work are … One thing I took from it is how much life was influenced by fate and how that motivated Thor’s fearlessness as a warrior.”

Co-star Natalie Portman on Chris: “I think the craziest day was when we flew together and they harnessed us attached to each other and we were up a 100 feet in the air with no safety mat. It was nice to have someone up there with me who was so lovely and calming.”

On moving to California from Australia: “I live in Santa Monica where there’s more space, and I surf a lot, train a lot, read books, and try to have a life outside the business. From time to time I miss being [in Australia].”

Unlike some actors, Chris Hemsworth has been frustratingly good at not revealing any “scoops” or spoilers about his upcoming title role in Marvel’s adaptation of Thor. As evidence, earlier this month, Hemsworth described his impression of the movie to MTV after watching a recent screening.

While Hemsworth has been good about not spoiling the movie, he has revealed that he tried to steal Thor’s hammer from the set and that the movie version will stay “true” to the comics, as well as describing the influence boxer Mike Tyson had on his performance.

Hemsworth’s ability to speak spoiler-free was put to the test while attending the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2). Hemsworth told IGN that he was “very happy” with the finished movie.

“I have [seen Thor], yeah. It’s fantastic. Being that close to something, it’s often pretty hard to watch yourself, but the film in so many ways is so impressive that I was swept along with it like an audience member, and that’s a pretty good sign.

“The film is so well put together. It’s a blend of fantasy and sci-fi… I was swept along like an audience member and able to enjoy it like an audience member. Very happy with finished film.”

“Thor” hits theatres May 6th.

Please, hammer, DO hurt ‘em.

In the new trailer for director Kenneth Branagh’s Thor, we finally see star Chris Hemsworth in mallet-swinging combat against his backstabbing brother Loki, a planet of ice-giants, and the heaven-sent hellfire machine The Destroyer. Yesterday, Branagh talked exclusively with EW about the triumvirate of villains in the movie, opening in 3-D on May 6.

Now the director goes into more detail about how he attempts to humanize a comic-book god, Thor’s clumsy relationship with women, whether he’ll make a cameo appearance, and how Star Trek and Shakespeare helped him find his hero.

For all the action extravagance in the new Thor trailer, a surprising amount is devoted to comedy, with most of the jokes at Thor’s expense. That’s a tactical choice, because the movie’s biggest challenge is to make its all-powerful blond god relatable to the average popcorn-muncher. Branagh says to cut a god down to size, it’s important for Thor to be able to laugh at Thor.

“Thor” is hitting theaters in just a few months, and star Chris Hemsworth is as eager to see a final cut of the film as the rest of us.

When MTV News tracked down the actor at the Sundance Film Festival, Hemsworth offered a brief update of sorts on the film that casts him as Marvel’s god of thunder.

“I haven’t [seen the final cut],” Hemsworth told MTV News. “They’re very excited to show us the final cut of it all.”

The actor said he’s moving on to “Avengers” filming next, but he’s eager to see how all the pieces of “Thor” that he has seen will look when they come together on the big screen.

“I can’t wait,” he said. “I’ve seen little bits and pieces through the process, and little grabs. It looks amazing. I saw some special effects stuff the other day that looks mind-blowing.”

Two of the most exciting films coming out in 2011 are undoubtedly “Thor” and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” the last two individual Marvel comic book films to be released before “The Avengers” hits theaters in 2012. Since the reveal of the “Avengers” lineup at San Diego Comic-Con over the summer, fans have been wondering how director Joss Whedon will bring together the many characters of the Marvel comic book universe into one succinct film.

Chris Hemsworth, who plays the titular Norse god in “Thor,” was at the Sundance Film Festival when MTV News caught up with him to talk about the upcoming films. He said that he has seen an early copy of the “Avengers” script, that it’s “incredible,” and it gave him a good sense of what he could expect to see for the film.

Chris Hemsworth, who will play the title role in next year’s Thor film, recently spoke to Marvel about living up to expectations, what Thor goes through in this film, and more.

On Thor and his fan base: “There’s a lot of pressure with something that existed for so many years before you were involved and already has a fan base, but you don’t let that affect the way you approach the film…I approached it by doing it as well as I can. Whether it’s a small film, or something like this, it’s very exciting and daunting.”

On Thor’s journey in the film: “He learns some humility. He starts out as a brash, cocky, young warrior and she certainly influences him in a different direction and gives him a different angle to look at life from.”

According to legend, only those worthy enough can pick up the mighty hammer of Thor…and Chris Hemsworth certainly fits the bill.

The Australian actor will bring the Thunderer to life on May 6, 2011 when “Thor” hits theaters. Fans got a sneak peek of everything in store with the debut of the film’s first trailer last week, and in the coming months Marvel.com will bring you word from the actors and creators behind “Thor” as we anticipate the most epic Marvel movie yet!

For Hemsworth, the challenge of playing such an iconic, established hero on the big screen proved no more difficult than any other role he’s undertaken.

“There’s a lot of pressure with something that existed for so many years before you were involved and already has a fan base, but you don’t let that affect the way you approach the film,” remarks the actor. “I approached it by doing it as well as I can. Chris Hemsworth may be even more excited to see the finished “Thor” film than the of the Marvel superhero’s fanboys.

Now that the hotly anticipated film’s trailer has hit the Internet, Hemsworth, who plays Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s legendary Norse thunder god-turned-superhero, found himself just as stoked over the preview footage as the die-hard fans.

“It was surprising,” Hemsworth tells PopcornBiz. “I’ve seen about as much footage as most people, which was very minimal, and that was hugely exciting. Just, like, ‘Give me more, please!’”

“I finished the film six months ago, which means there’s this lead up of sort of what’s to come and now it’s all starting to heat up. And obviously important to me and it’s exciting and it’s a mixture of things going through my head!”
