Details Spill of Hawkeye’s Costume

For years, Marvel has had the habit of seeding their movies with teases to other upcoming film projects — and it looks like this summer’s Thor is no different. Who better to go up against a demigod with a magical hammer than… an archer?!

During a presentation by Walt Disney Pictures today at the theater owners’ event CinemaCon, attendees were surprised when the House of Mouse showed a sizzle reel with footage from Marvel movies past, present and future. Amongst the moving pictures on display was new footage from “Thor,” including an eye-opening shot of Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.

“Basically, Hawkeye’s costume is going to be very similar to the Ultimates version of the character,” reported ComingSoon.net. “In the concept art, we see Renner wearing similar dark glasses and a leather outfit with a matching over-the-shoulder leather quill for his arrows, only the movie version of Hawkeye has the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo emblazoned on it to show his government allegiances.”

Back in February, MTV News interviewed Renner on the Oscars red carpet in which the actor talked about the Avengers script and Hawkeye’s costume.

Other footage shown at CinemaCon featured Thor smashing his hammer to the ground and “causing waves of destruction,” and what is speculated to be pre-visualization animatics for “The Avengers” movie.

The footage also included a brief interview with actor Mark Ruffalo talking about his role as the Hulk in “The Avengers,” saying that his character was “definitely” going to be a hero rather than the rampaging catalyst as seen in the inaugural “Avengers” comic. (Source)

“The Avengers” Will Be Best Marvel Movie Ever

Marvel is gearing up for a huge summer with two huge films, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger. Both of those films are tied-in with The Avengers, Marvel’s next huge comic book adaptation. set to hit theaters May 4, 2012. Filming is about to begin with Joss Whedon directing the all-star superhero flick starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johanssen and Cobie Smulders. While we don’t know much about the plot of the film, seeing as it’s being kept under wraps, Super director James Gunn has heard some very cool things about the script. Check out what he has to say after the jump.

While speaking with Wired, Joss Whdeon had this to say:

Everybody I know who’s read it says it’s by far the best script for a Marvel movie ever. I’m very, very excited about it. Nobody loves superheroes more than Joss. He’s really got his heart in the right place.

Even though Gunn hasn’t read the script himself, it’s still a relief to hear that news. Many fans have been worried that The Avengers might turn out to be cluttered with so many leading characters. Who’s to blame them for thinking that? We’ve seen some films (Spider-Man 3, anyone?) ruined by introducing too many characters and not having a more focused, coherent story. As far as this little piece of news goes, I’ll believe it when I see it. I trust Whedon to do this film justice, seeing as he hasn’t done a single thing fans haven’t liked. (Source)

Has a Teaser Trailer Been Shot for “The Avengers?”

Director Joss Whedon and his band of heroes, including Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) , Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson) will not be going into production on Marvel Studios‘ forthcoming team-up film, The Avengers until April.

Now, reports claim that Marvel has already cut a secret teaser trailer for the movie, which could be seen this summer before Thor or Captain America: The First Avenger. AICN reports that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is featured in that teaser trailer, and LatinoReview reaffirms that Loki will return in “The Avengers” as the main villain, and adds that he will use the “cosmic cube” from Captain America: The First Avenger to summon The Skrulls to invade Earth and battle The Avengers.

Although these reports are plausible, and the info is from reliable folks, all of this should probably be considered rumor for now. If it is all true, what do you think? Let me know in the comments.

The Avengers is slated to hit theaters on May 4th, 2012. (Source)

Jeremy Renner Talks “Avengers” and Possible “Thor” Cameo

With The Avengers hitting theaters in 2012, all eyes are on Marvel’s heroes as we get closer to the day when Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and a host of other comic book characters (and the actors who play them) will appear together on the same screen.

One of the superheroes who won’t be debuting in his own solo movie is Clint Barton, the expert archer known as Hawkeye. Played by “Hurt Locker” actor Jeremy Renner, Hawkeye will likely make his official debut in “The Avengers” — though recent rumors have pegged him for a cameo in “Thor.”

MTV News caught up with Renner on the red carpet at this year’s Academy Awards and pressed him for details about his debut as the bow-wielding marksman.

“Yes, I have [read the ‘Avengers’ script],” Renner said. “It’s tremendous. I can’t tell you anything about it.”

Calling the film a “massive undertaking,” Renner praised the ambition of “Avengers” director Joss Whedon, who’s tasked with putting all of Marvel’s biggest stars in the same film and making sure there’s enough spotlight to go around.

“He [will need to] pull all of those characters off and have it make sense,” the actor said.

Little is known about the plot of “Avengers” at this point, other than that it will bring together a long list of high-profile actors and the larger-than-life characters they play in Marvel’s movie universe. During last year’s Comic-Con in San Diego, Marvel unveiled the core “Avengers” cast of Renner, Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) and Clark Gregg (S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson).

In order to prepare for the role, Renner said archery lessons are indeed on his to-do list — though he has yet to see the costume he’ll don as Hawkeye.

As for that rumor about Hawkeye making a cameo in “Thor,” Renner would neither confirm nor deny the possibility of fans getting an early peek at his take on the Avengers’ marksman.

“I might [have a cameo in ‘Thor’],” he teased. “Go see it. Check it out.”

‘Avengers’ Star Chris Hemsworth Says Movie’s Script Is ‘Massive’

Two of the most exciting films coming out in 2011 are undoubtedly “Thor” and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” the last two individual Marvel comic book films to be released before “The Avengers” hits theaters in 2012. Since the reveal of the “Avengers” lineup at San Diego Comic-Con over the summer, fans have been wondering how director Joss Whedon will bring together the many characters of the Marvel comic book universe into one succinct film.

Chris Hemsworth, who plays the titular Norse god in “Thor,” was at the Sundance Film Festival when MTV News caught up with him to talk about the upcoming films. He said that he has seen an early copy of the “Avengers” script, that it’s “incredible,” and it gave him a good sense of what he could expect to see for the film.

‘Avengers’ Star Chris Hemsworth Hasn’t Seen Script Yet

“The Avengers” star Chris Hemsworth will be wielding a massive hammer in the highly-anticipated, hero-packed flick but, other than that, the Australian actor is still in the dark about the nuances of his role.

When the “Thor” actor stopped by the Scream Awards red carpet on Saturday, he told MTV News that he hasn’t laid eyes on a script for the 2012 release.

“I’m extremely excited to see it. I talked with [director] Joss [Whedon] right when he first came on board about his ideas and what he planned on doing about it,” Hemsworth said. “But I have yet to see a script.”

‘Avengers’ Heroes All Have ‘Big Egos,’ Chris Hemsworth Says

After debuting to a raucous crowd at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend, the key players comprising “The Avengers” gang are now set. What’s not yet clear is which of the superheroes in this Marvel all-star team will assume the leadership role. According to comic book lore, Captain America is the guy who unites many of the heroes — including Thor and Iron Man — but the man who will hold Thor’s hammer on the big screen next year is not so sure the Captain is assured the boss role.

“Big egos,” Chris Hemsworth laughed to MTV News shortly before the announcement of the “Avengers” cast at Con, adding that Thor does not like to be ordered around. “I don’t think he likes to be. I don’t think any of them do. That’s what’s so interesting.”
