"Chris Hemsworth is like Christopher Reeve in that he can do two things: he can wear a big red cape without a shred of self-consciousness. But he's also funny as hell, and he's so sweet. So with all the fish-out-of-water stuff, he's so funny. So he does almost two jobs in a way."

We know that the cast of The Avengers know each of the characters they’re bringing to the big screen, but how much do they know about their fellow teammates and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?

In this MTV Movie Awards special feature, MTV Movies Correspondent Josh Horowitz asks three of the upcoming film’s stars — Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, and Chris Hemsworth — a few questions to gauge their Avengers IQ. (Source)

Summer is around the corner, and with it comes blockbuster movies and its hotties who star in them. Check out Extra’s steamy list of the summer’s sexiest men!

Chris Hemsworth:
Australian-born Chris Hemsworth stars in the Marvel action film, Thor. The hunky Hemsworth trained immensely for the part — maybe a little too much. In an L.A. Times interview, the actor admitted he could not fit into his costume because he was TOO muscular!

“[The filmmakers] kept saying ‘Yeah, get as big as you can, as big as you can.’ And then I came back right before Christmas, just before we started the movie, and had a final sort of camera test and put the costume on and within a couple of minutes, my hands started going numb,” Hemsworth said in his interview.

“And I thought, ‘OK, it doesn’t fit.’”

Although I absolutely loved the previous layout, Chris Hemsworth Network has a brand new layout! I wanted to make something using a more recent photo of Chris that was light and simple … I hope it turned out that way! If you come across any errors, let me know! I hope everyone likes the new look as much as I do.

On a side note, I’m going to be working on adding content to the site – so keep checking back while the site expands into the most extensive online resource for Chris!

Production on Marvel’s The Avengers is already underway, kicked off near the end of April with much fanfare and a personal message from writer/director Joss Whedon. At the time, the studio’s press release confirmed the central antagonist as none other than Loki, the conniving figure played by Tom Hiddleston in this month’s Thor.

Of course, we also know the cast consists of Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), and Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill). However, if recent reports are accurate, there may be another villain facing off against this formidable team.

Potential spoilers from here on: So far, the running theory is that Loki uses the Cosmic Cube, teased in the “stinger” following the Thor credits, to contact the Skrulls. The green-skinned alien race of shapeshifters forms an army that battles the superhuman forces of The Avengers. However, Latino Review reports Loki may also wind up stealing and harnessing the power of another magical artifact from Odin’s vault: the infinity gauntlet.

The gauntlet — here’s a picture of it at Comic-Con 2010 — is a golden glove fitted with six “infinity gems” that give its wielder God-like power. In a ’90s Marvel comic book series, appropriately titled “The Infinity Gauntlet,” a mad Titan named Thanos creates the powerful object to give him mastery over time, space, mind, soul, reality, and power. Then he destroys half of Earth’s population and imprisons the universe’s other Cosmic entities.

Latino Review has been fairly reliable in the past, especially with Marvel-related mysteries, but this should be treated as a rumor for now. The site doesn’t reveal how Thanos fits into the story, though given the prominence of Loki and the Skrulls this time around, it may be safe to assume the cosmic villain part of a potential setup for a larger scale sequel. The forward-thinking plan has been Marvel’s modus operandi since Iron Man, no reason to suspect their May 4, 2012 release is any different. (Source)

“We wanted to do a tease of an image — Let people know that the movie has started filming, and it’s real. We thought it would be fun to have the cast chairs — that’s the big selling point of the movie, that these people are together on the set.

I did get to New Mexico on the 1st day of shooting. Right off the bat, it involved a couple of characters who’d been in other movies meeting for the first time. It was a little surreal, realizing it was actually happening.”
     – Kevin Feige (“The Avengers,” producer)

The Avengers comes to theatres May 4, 2012.

Following recent news that Natalie would be reprising the role of Jane Foster from Thor in writer-director Joss Whedon’s super-team movie, The Avengers, she revealed to TodayOnline that she will not be in it.

I’m not in The Avengers, but I’m signed up for the next two [Thor] sequels if they are made. I think these inter-related Marvel movies are great fun. The Avengers will be like Ocean’s Eleven with the superhero all-stars!

When Kenneth Branagh ended up in the director’s seat for the big-screen adaptation of Thor, Tom Hiddleston was hand-picked to serve as Thor’s brother and nemesis, Loki. It’s a part so juicy that Hiddleston will reprise it as the main villain in next year’s Marvel mash-up The Avengers. New York Magazine had the opportunity to talk to Tom about the upcoming “The Avengers,” take a look at what he had to say:

At what point did they tell you that you would get to be the primary villain in The Avengers too?
Well, I think it was a plan from the get-go, but it wasn’t really dead-set until near the end of Thor. What was wonderful is that about four days after I wrapped on Thor, I went out for a cup of tea with Joss Whedon. We sat down at two o’clock in the afternoon, and we were still sitting there at six o’clock. He said, “Listen, you’ve lived with this guy for six months. I want you to spill the beans and tell me all of his dark secrets. Who is this guy? Why is he who he is?” Ken had already shown him a rough cut of the film, and mercifully, everything I had done accorded with Joss’s idea of the character, too. I’m really so flattered that Marvel and Joss think I can take them all on. In Avengers, it’s going to be me versus seven of them, and I say “Good luck to them,” frankly.

Is there still some ambiguity to Loki in that movie, or is he more of a full-fledged bad guy?
It’s tough to say. I think Loki’s intelligence is never switched off. Let’s put it this way: He has really big, evil plans that will take more than his thunderous brother to put a stop to, but that doesn’t mean that the layers aren’t still there.

Are there any trepidations that you’re committed to so many Marvel films without so much as script approval?
I’ve got to be completely honest with you, man: Loki has been such an amazing break for me. I think every young actor needs a break, and I owe it eternally to Kenneth Branagh for believing in me, so it’s kind of a no-brainer to me. The idea that I can play this juicy role a couple more times? It’s a tantalizing prospect.

The Marvel tentpole Thor, toplined by Chris Hemsworth, wasn’t just directed by Kenneth Branagh. “Thor” actor Stellan Skarsgard revealed at Cannes, while promoting Melancholia, that Joss Whedon, who is currently helming The Avengers, actually filmed part of “Thor.”

Whedon, Skarsgard tells Empire, directed the post-credits scene, in which his Erik Selvig, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury all appear.

“That was just a couple of months ago,” Skarsgard said of filming the extra scene. “I flew over there and went down into a basement, talked to Sam a couple of minutes and then went back home.”

“Was that with Ken Branagh?,” the interviewer asks.

“No that was with a director called Joss Whedon, who’s doing The Avengers,” Skarsgard answers.
