Ron Howard’s next film Rush is a biopic of the British Formula One driver and notorious playboy, and with a Peter Morgan script, a charismatic lead actor is required. Deadline report that Aussie actor Hemsworth, who got his Hollywood break in Star Trek, has been offered the part.
Talks are taking place, with a view to shoot next year. Howard will have to work around Hemsworth’s Marvel commitments, with Thor 2 officially announced for July 2013. Following his reprisal of Thor for The Avengers, Hemsworth will film Snow White and the Huntsman with Kristen Stewart later this year.
Rush will focus on Hunt’s Formula One rivalry with Niki Lauda in the 1970s, as well as his victories and colourful lovelife. The film’s production comes at a good time, with Ayrton Senna immortalised in Asif Kapadia’s documentary Senna, a huge hit at the UK box office.
Also up for consideration is I Am Number Four star Pettyfer. (Source)
